Dr   Vincent   was   awarded   a   scholarship   to   pursue   his   undergraduate   medical   studies   locally   in   the   National   University   of   Malaysia   (Universiti   Kebangsaan   Malaysia, UKM).   Early   in   his   medical   career,   he   soon   discovered   his   interest   in   the   surgical   field   where   he   gained   experience   in   General   Surgery   before   moving   onto   the   field of   Ear,   Nose   and   Throat   (Otorhinolaryngology),   Head   and   Neck   Surgery.   He   later   returned   to   his   alma   mater   to   undergo   specialist   training   in   Otorhinolaryngology, Head   and   Neck   Surgery   and   performed   well   in   his   final   exams   to   graduate   with   the   Master   of   Surgery   (Otorhinolaryngology,   Head   &   Neck   Surgery).   He   has developed his skills and knowledge in the area since. In the course of his postgraduate studies, he has obtained the following qualifications: • Postgraduate Diploma of Otorhinolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery, The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK • Membership of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS Intercollegiate UK) • Postgraduate Certificate in Allergy, University of Southampton School of Medicine, UK • Masters of Surgery in Otorhinolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery [MS ORL-HNS (UKM)] After   his   graduation   as   an   ENT,   Head   and   Neck   surgeon,   he   was   awarded   Specialist Accreditation   in   Otorhinolaryngology,   Head   and   Neck   Surgery   by   the   Ministry   of Health   Malaysia   and   Specialist   Registration   in   Ear,   Nose   &   Throat   Surgery.   He   was   also   accredited   by   the   National   Specialist   Register   committee.   He   had   a   busy practice   in   Kuching   General   Hospital,   Sarawak   where   he   served   for   2   years.   Here   he   was   actively   involved   in   managing   nasal   and   sinus   diseases,   thyroid,   salivary gland disorders, nasopharyngeal and advanced head and neck cancers. He   was   later   awarded   subspecialty   training,   Fellowship   in   Rhinology   (a   subspecialty   related   to   nasal   medicine   and   surgery)   by   the   Singapore   General   Hospital (SGH).   Under   the   mentorship   of   renowned   endoscopic   sinus   surgeon Assoc.Prof   Dr.   D.S.Sethi   and   Dr.   Leong   Jern   Lin,   he   honed   his   skills   in   advanced   endoscopic sinus   surgery   (including   image-guided   surgery,   endoscopic   nasal   and   sinus   tumour   excision,   pituitary   surgery,   endoscopic   anterior   skull   base   and   pituitary   surgery, endoscopic   revision   sinus   surgery),   ENT   allergy   and   immunotherapy.   While   in   Singapore,   he   has   also   spent   time   with   sleep   surgery   experts   to   develop   his   surgical skill and gained experience in the management of snoring disorders and sleep apnea. Due   to   his   interest   in   the   field   of   ENT   allergy,   he   continued   his   pursuit   of   knowledge   in   this   field   by   completing   his   Postgraduate   Certificate   studies   in   the   University   of Southampton School of Medicine, UK and his specialist clinical attachment in the Southampton General Hospital, UK. Upon   his   return,   he   served   as   the   Head   of   Department   and   ENT,   Head   and   Neck   Surgeon   in   the   Department   of   Otorhinolaryngology,   Klang   General   Hospital. As   he also   has   a   keen   interest   in   cancers   of   the   head   and   neck   region,   he   was   later   given   the   privilege   to   serve   as   International   Fellow   in   Head   and   Neck   Oncology   (a subspecialty   related   to   cancer)   and   Surgery   in   Netherlands   Cancer   Institute,   Amsterdam,   The   Netherlands.   Here,   he   gained   further   exposure   in   management   of head   and   neck   tumours   (including   voice   box/laryngeal   cancers),   laser   surgery   in   ENT   and   reconstruction   of   complex   defects   of   the   face,   jaw,   tongue,   throat   and neck following cancer surgery. Academia... Due   to   his   keen   academic   interest,   he   has   kept   himself   updated   with   the   ever-changing   medical   knowledge   through   actively   publishing   in   local   and   international peer-reviewed   journals.   He   was   recently   given   the   privilege   to   publish   and   also   review   articles   in   one   of   the   leading   U.S   ENT   journal.   He   currently   sits   in   the   peer review panel of 3 international ENT journals and a local medical journal. As   an Associate   Professor   in   ENT,   Head   and   Neck   Surgery   prior   to   this ,   he   was   involved   in   the   teaching   of   medical   undergraduates   and   mentoring   of   junior   doctors. In   the   course   of   his   previous   employment,   he   has   also   served   as   an   adjunct   clinical   teacher/lecturer   with   the   University   of   Malaysia   Sarawak   where   he   contributed   to postgraduate student training, various researches, and presented his works at international meetings. He   has   also   been   called   upon   as   part   of   the   teaching   faculty   in   the   Endoscopic   Sinus   Surgery   course   in   Singapore   and   has   given   talks   to   other   specialists,   the General   Practitioners,   junior   doctors   and   pharmacists.   As   a   firm   believer   in   continuous   medical   education,   he   also   travels   to   international   conferences   to   learn   from world renowned ENT surgeons in their fields of expertise. He has also been invited on as guest panel specialist on live talk shows on ENT health issues on national TV. He   is   also   the   Clinical   Director   for   Special   Olympics    Healthy   Hearing   Athletes   Program,   a   charity   organisation   under   the   auspices   of   International   Olympic Committee   (IOC),   with   the   purpose   of   providing   healthy   hearing   opportunities   to   the   special   group   of   children.   He   is   working   towards   awareness   of   this   charitable movement in Malaysia. Services… Born   and   bred   as   a   true   Malaysian   boy,   he   is   able   to   converse   in   English,   Bahasa   Malaysia,   Mandarin,   Hokkien   and   Cantonese   dialects   (and   also   a   few   words   of Tamil !). He also enjoys interaction with children. Dr   Vincent   Tan   dianugerahkan   biasiswa   untuk   melanjutkan   pengajian   ijazah   perubatan   tempatan   di   Universiti   Kebangsaan   Malaysia   (UKM).   Pada   peringkat   awal dalam   kerjaya   perubatan   beliau,   beliau   telah   menemui   minatnya   dalam   bidang   pembedahan   di   mana   beliau   mendapat   pengalaman   dalam   Pembedahan   Am sebelum   kesempatan   datang   untuk   beliau   mengorak   langkah   ke   bidang   Telinga,   Hidung   dan   Tekak   (THT)   atau   juga   dkenali   sebagai   Otorinolaringologi   (ORL), Bedah   Kepala   dan   Leher.   Beliau   kemudian   kembali   ke   universiti   siswazah   beliau   untuk   menjalani   latihan   pakar   dalam   Pembedahan   THT,   Kepala   dan   Leher.   Beliau mencapai   prestasi   yang   baik   dalam   peperiksaan   akhir   untuk   lulus   dengan   Sarjana   Pembedahan   (Otorinolaringologi,   Kepala   &   Leher   Pembedahan).   Demikiannya, semenjak titik permulaan tersebut, beliau terus menambah pengetahuan, kemahiran dan pengalaman dalam bidang ini.

Beliau   kemudiannya   dianugerahkan   latihan   sub-kepakaran,   Fellowship   in   Rhinology   (sub-kepakaran   yang   berkaitan   dengan   perubatan   dan   pembedahan   hidung) oleh   Singapore   General   Hospital   (SGH).   Di   bawah   mentor   terkenal   pakar   bedah   sinus   endoskopi   Prof   Dr   DSSethi   dan   Dr   Leong   Jern   Lin,   beliau   mengasah kemahiran   beliau   dalam   pembedahan   sinus   endoskopi   lanjutan   (termasuk   pembedahan   berpandukan   imej   -   image-guided   surgery   (IGS),   pembedahan   ketumbuhan hidung   dan   sinus,   pembedahan   pituitari,   pembedahan   endoskopik   pangkal   anterior   tengkorak),   alergi   dan   imunoterapi   ENT.   Semasa   di   Singapura,   beliau   juga   telah menghabiskan   masa   dengan   pakar-pakar   pembedahan   bidang   apnea   tidur   untuk   membangunkan   kemahiran   pembedahan   dan   mendapat   pengalaman   dalam pengurusan gangguan berdengkur dan apnea tidur. Oleh   kerana   minat   beliau   dalam   bidang   alahan THT,   dia   terus   menimba   pengetahuan   beliau   dalam   bidang   ini   dengan   menamatkan   pengajian   Sijil   Pascasiswazah   di Universiti Southampton School of Medicine, UK dan 'attachment' klinikal di Southampton General Hospital, UK. Sekembalinya   ke   tanahair,   beliau   berkhidmat   sebagai   Ketua   Jabatan   dan   Pakar   Bedah   ENT,   Kepala   dan   Leher   di   Jabatan   Otorinolaringologi,   Hospital   Besar   Klang. Oleh   kerana   minatnya   yang   mendalam   terhadap   bidang   kanser   kepala   dan   leher,   dia   seterusnya   diberi   peluang   untuk   berkhidmat   sebagai   Felo Antarabangsa   dalam bidang   Onkologi   (sub-kepakaran   yang   berkaitan   dengan   kanser)   kepala   dan   leher   di   Netherlands   Cancer   Institute,   Amsterdam,   Belanda   .   Di   sini,   beliau   mendapat pendedahan   selanjutnya   dalam   pengurusan   kanser/ketumbuhan   kepala   dan   leher   tumor   (termasuk   peti   suara   /   kanser   berhubung   dgn   pangkal   tekak),   pembedahan laser dalam THT dan pembinaan semula kecacatan kompleks berikutan pembedahan kanser muka, rahang, lidah, tekak dan leher. BIDANG AKADEMIK... Disebabkan   minat   akademik   beliau   untuk   mendapatkan   pengetahuan   perubatan   yang   mutakhir,   dia   melibatkan   diri   secara   aktif   dalam   penerbitan   jurnal   'peer- reviewed'   tempatan   dan   antarabangsa.   Beliau   juga   pernah   diberi   keistimewaan   untuk   menerbitkan   hasil   kerjanya   dalam   salah   satu   jurnal   THT   terkemuka AS.   Pada satu masa, beliau pernah diberi peluang untuk berada di panel pengritik peer-review 3 jurnal antarabangsa dan jurnal perubatan THT tempatan. Semasa   bertugas   sebagai   Profesor   Madya   dalam   bidang   Pembedahan   THT,   Kepala   dan   Leher   sebelum   ini,   beliau   telah   terlibat   secara   langsung   dalam   pengajaran mahasiswa   perubatan   dan   bimbingan   doktor-doktor   muda.   Dalam   kerjaya   pendidikan   terdahulu,   beliau   juga   telah   berkhidmat   sebagai   pensyarah   tambahan   (adjunct) dengan   Universiti   Malaysia   Sarawak   di   mana   beliau   menyumbang   kepada   latihan   pelajar   lepasan   ijazah,   pelbagai   penyelidikan,   dan   menyampaikan   karya-karya beliau di konferens antarabangsa. Beliau   juga   pernah   menganggotai   fakulti   tenaga   pengajar   dalam   Kursus   Pembedahan   Endoskopi      Hidung   dan   Sinus   di   Singapore   General   Hospital   (SGH)   selain kerapkali   memberikan   ceramah   kepada   pakar   perubatan   lain,   pengamal   perubatan   umum   (GP),   doktor   junior   dan   pegawai   farmasi.   Beliau   berpegang   teguh   kepada prinsip   pendidikan   perubatan   yang   berterusan   (CME)   di   mana   beliau   juga   aktif   mengambil   bahagian   dalam   persidangan   antarabangsa   untuk   belajar   daripada   pakar bedah   THT   terkenal   di   seluruh   dunia   dalam   bidang   kepakaran   masing-masing.   Beliau   baru-baru   ini   terlibat   sebagai   ahli   jawatankuasa   untuk   merangka   Garis Panduan   Konsensus   Kebangsaan   GP   untuk   'Obstructive   Sleep   Apnea   (OSA)',   Beliau   juga   pernah   memegang   kedudukan   sebagai   seorang   ahli   jawatankuasa eksekutif (EXCO) Persatuan Pakar Doktor Otorinolaryngologi, Bedah Kepala dan Leher Malaysia (MSOHNS). Dia masih terhutang budi kepada guru-gurunya, rakan-rakan dan pesakit yang telah banyak mengajarnya secara langsung dan tidak langsung. KERJA  AMAL... Beliau   juga   merupakan   Pengarah   Klinikal   untuk   Program   Pendengaran Atlet   Sihat   Special   Olimpik   (SO),   sebuah   organisasi   amal   di   bawah   naungan   Jawatankuasa Olimpik   Antarabangsa   (IOC),   dengan   tujuan   menyediakan   peluang   pendengaran   yang   normal   di   kalangan   mereka   yang   mempunyai   masalah   kecacatan.   Beliau sedang berusaha ke arah kesedaran pergerakan amal di Malaysia bersama ahli-ahli SO di Malaysia. PERKHIDMATAN… Dilahirkan   dan   dibesarkan   sebagai   budak   Malaysia   sejati,   dia   mempunyai   kebolehan   untuk   bertutur   dalam   Bahasa   Inggeris,   Bahasa   Malaysia,   Bahasa   Cina,   dialek Hokkien dan Kantonis (dan juga beberapa perkataan Tamil!). Beliau juga gemar interaksi dengan kanak-kanak. Sebagai   penyelam   SCUBA   PADI   bertauliah,   beliau   amat   berminat   dalam   bidang   ini   dimana   beliau   ada   laman   web   khas   di   sini    untuk   penjelasan   perubatan   yang lebih lanjut. He amat terbuka untuk berbincang dengan lebih lanjut dalam bidang ini dengan pesakitnya yang turut meminati bidang ini. 这一切的开始... ... 他获取奖学金以在马来西亚国立大学（马来西亚国民大学，UKM）就读本科医学。在他的医学生涯初期，他在普通外科的经验让他发现了自己对外科手术 的兴趣。从而，他走上了耳鼻喉（耳鼻咽喉科）及头颈外科的不归路。后来，他回到他的母校接受耳鼻咽喉 - 头颈外科培训，并以傲人的成绩考获外科 硕士（耳鼻咽喉- 头颈外科）。从此，他在该领域发展及贡献他的技能和知识。 他的凭据和经验... ... 由于他对耳鼻喉过敏的领域存有浓厚的兴趣，他继续在这个领域追求知识并在英国的南安普敦大学医学院完成研究生证书。他随后在南安普敦的总医院 进行专业实习。他是英国过敏和临床免疫学（BSACI）学会的成员。同时，也是欧洲过敏和临床免疫学（EAACI）学院的成员。 在他的研究生涯中，他考取了： •位于英国爱丁堡的英国皇家外科学院的耳鼻咽喉-头颈外科研究生文凭 •英国爱丁堡皇家外科学院的会员(MRCS Intercollegiate UK) •南安普敦大学医学院的过敏研究生证书 •耳鼻咽喉科-头颈外科硕士 [MS ORL - HNS（UKM）] 毕业后，他获得马来西亚卫生部和耳鼻咽喉 - 头颈外科专家注册局承认并授予耳鼻喉-头颈外科专家的地位。他曾在沙捞越的古晋总医院任职了两年。 在这里，他积极参与鼻腔、鼻窦疾病、甲状腺、唾液腺疾病、鼻咽部和有关头部和颈部癌症的医疗工作。 他后来被新加坡中央医院（SGH）授予鼻科专科特别会员（与鼻药和手术有关的专科）。在著名的鼻内窥镜外科医生D.S.Sethi博士和Leong Jern Lin医 生的指导之下，他提升了自己对内窥镜鼻窦手术的知识和技能（包括图像指导的手术、内窥镜鼻腔和鼻窦肿瘤切除术、垂体手术、内镜下前颅底和垂体 手术、内窥镜鼻窦手术），耳鼻喉过敏和免疫治疗。在新加坡中央医院，他也获得了打鼾妨碍性疾病和睡眠呼吸暂停的管理经验。他还向睡眠外科专 家，Kenny Pang博士学习并增进他在这个专科的手术技巧。 回国后，他在巴生总医院的耳鼻喉-头颈外科部门担任主任。由于他对头部和颈部癌症也存有浓厚的兴趣，他接着获得荷兰阿姆斯特丹的癌症研究所赋予 国际头颈部肿瘤及外科协会的会员。在这里，他获取更多的机会接触医治头颈部肿瘤（包括语音信箱/ 喉癌）、耳鼻喉科的激光手术以及修建脸部、下 巴、舌头、喉咙和颈部癌症手术后的缺损。 由于对学术有着浓厚的兴趣，他一直不断的跟进医疗知识的最新发展，并积极的通过本地及国际同行评审发布期刊。最近，他更是有机会在美国的耳鼻 喉科刊物发布及评介文章。作为一名耳鼻喉科-头颈外科副教授，他目前为医学本科生和初级医生给与指导及教学。他还担任马来西亚沙捞越大学兼职临 床教师/讲师。他贡献于研究生培训、各种研究，并在国际会议上发表作品。 他也是新加坡鼻内窥镜手术课程的讲师，并予GP和初级医生办讲座和分享。身为一名行医者，他坚信持续不断的医学教育；他经常出席国际会议以便向 世界著名的耳鼻喉外科专家们学习。他也是马来西亚医学院士的会员。由于他常常参与本地和海外的医学项目，他跟各国的朋友、同事和耳鼻喉科专家 们都建立了良好的关系。对于自己的成就，他归功于耐心指导他的老师、同事和病人。对于他们，他除了心存感激，仍是感激！ 陈永顺博士是一个道道地地、土生土长的马来西亚人。长于斯、生于斯，他不但能够用英语交谈，也会马来语、华语、福建语和广东语（还会说几句泰 米尔话呢！） 慈善... 他是特奥运动员健康听觉计划的临床主任。这是一个由国际奥委会（IOC）发起的慈善组织，负责为特殊儿童群体提供健康听觉的机会。他目前正在积极 地推动着许多相关的活动以提高马来西亚社会对这个慈善组织的意识。 服务... 他提供门诊，以及耳、鼻、喉和颈部的住院手术护理，特别是治疗鼻、过敏、鼻窦问题和头颈部肿瘤。
